Tom's Trek 2016: “Neither Up nor Down”

Hay-on-Wye to Ipswich :: 8 September – 4 October 2016 :: 220 miles

ZANE helps desperately needy people across Zimbabwe. Please visit the ZANE website at to find out more about this amazing charity.

Tom and his wife Jane walk for people like Catherine:

Catherine's Tale

Catherine, 71, worked all her life as an administrator. Her savings of $18,000 were destroyed in Zimbabwe’s great inflation (2003-8) and the value stolen by the Mugabe government.

Today Catherine suffers from chronic fibrosis of the lungs and she has suffered numerous near death situations. In 2000, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and so she underwent a double mastectomy. Catherine needs a cocktail of drugs to keep her alive.

ZANE currently supports Catherine with provision towards her rent, basic living costs and medicine. Catherine wrote to ZANE in April 2014:

“ The kindness of ZANE staff and donors is simply overwhelming. How can I ever repay you? Thank you ZANE for all you have done. Please thank those who give so generously. I don’t know where I would be without ZANE’s help. Thank you and may God bless you all. Catherine Miller”
